Perodua Alza
The much-anticipated Perodua Alza MPV has arrived. The seven-seater Perodua Alza themed "Versatile As You" was launched on Monday at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center. This car was based on the Toyota Passo Sette/Daihatsu Boon Luminas, that is the extended version of Perodua Myvi. This MPV comes in two version. They are the Standard and Premium Version priced between RM55,000 to RM 64,000 while the Advance Version will be launched in March 2010, priced between RM66,000 to RM70,000.
After
my 4 days trip to Penang, I took the opportunity to go to the Perodua
Showroom in Bandar Sri Permaisuri, which is situated not far from my
house, to witness the latest addition to the Perodua family. In the
showroom, three models of Perodua Alza was exhibited. They were :
- Classy Purple Premium Version (A/T)
- Glittering Silver Standard Version (M/T)
- Pearl White Advance Version (A/T)
Although
it was working hour, the showroom was crowded with car enthusiasts and
potential buyers. According to the car salesman, the showroom has sold
30 Perodua Alza per day. If we book it today, we need to wait until
January 2010 to get our Perodua Alza or if we book it later, we might
need to wait until March or April.
Reverse Camera Only Available In Advance Version
This
MPV comes in a high performance 1.5L DVVT, DOHC with EFI engine that
delivers excellent fuel economy that is as low as 14 cent per
kilometer. According to the salesman, this engine was developed by
Toyota in Japan. It has a soft, comfortable seat fabric in Premium
version while Advance version came with leather seat. All variant comes
with Electric Side Mirrors with Side Turn Signals. Premium version
comes with an attractively designed rear spoiler for a sportier look to
the car.
Electric Side Mirrors with Side Turn Signals
The
center meter panel with Optiron Meter and Multi-Information Display
makes easy viewing of the speedometer, tachometer and informations such
as average fuel consumption and maximum traveling range that is only
available in selected Perodua and Toyota models. Is also comes with a
mini automatic transmission gear that is very smooth and the hand-brake
is just by pressing the pedal beside the brake pedal that can be
reached easily. The front row is a bench type seat and it can be
converted into a armrest or an illegal seat if there is no police
around. These features only available in automatic variants only.

The
steering wheel has been redesigned and it has audio switches wrapped
with leather (Premium Version). What I like in the dashboard is the
cool designed audio system with CD Player, MP3 and WMA while USB and
Bluetooth only available in Premium version.
15" Alloy Rim
What
I like is the center seat that can be slided and can be folded in 7
modes. The sliding seat can make either center seat or 3-row seat
passenger seat comfortably if there are only 5 passengers or 5 adult
passengers plus 2 small passengers. But I do not suggest the 3rd row
passenger seat to be used for long distance because our legs might be
in pain or we do not have enough space to fill in our luggage.
The Seven Modes
This
car has a minimum turning radius that is 5.2 meter. It also has a
tinted glass that protects up to 91% of UV Rays. The car also comes
with some safety features such as ABS, EBD and Dual SRS Airbags in both
driver and front passenger seats.
